( a poem for when the world feels hard )
Swear to me, please swear, you won’t let your heart harden You won’t allow fears of others to taint your view of the world There is a rhetoric, of unwelcomeness and divisiveness Which only hurts people even more, you, me, all of us I only ask you to swear not to harden Not to turn inwards, but stay outwards, look after each other Don’t whatever you do let the bullies win
