Productivity Process
Let me ask you a question. Do you want to be more productive?
If the answer is yes, great! This is precisely what I’ll teach you in this post.
Why does this matter, though? Being productive, I mean?
Well, from your point of view, being productive (and having a proven productivity process) will enable you to get tasks done faster and more consistently, along with reducing mental overload and procrastination.
You’ll get things done as efficiently as possible without burning out, so you can get back to the fun stuff without wasting any of your precious time.
Getting Productive
Productivity means different things to different women.
I see being productive as having things done as quickly as possible BUT not taking shortcuts. By doing it properly – avoiding the task altogether is not being productive!
Productivity is a way of organising and planning. It’s taking action on tasks that must be done and doing them as best as possible.
What’s the difference between being productive and getting things done, you ask?
Getting things done means completing your tasks. On the other hand, being productive means completing tasks more quickly and efficiently and with a certain level of enjoyment and satisfaction.
It’s about achieving goals while improving yourself and doing things the right way.
Being productive means you do your tasks at the correct times and that you do them as efficiently as possible.
Big caveat! Being productive doesn’t mean that you are going to complete all the tasks that come your way, much as we’d like to! Productivity isn’t being busy!
Why does being productive matter?
There are two reasons why productivity matters. First of all, being productive can make your life much easier.
If you are productive, you can finish more tasks in less time.
Being productive helps you be more efficient. Being efficient means, you’re able to do more in less time.
The second reason why productivity matters is that you create more time for doing things you enjoy.
This may be spending time with loved ones or doing activities you value. And who doesn’t want more of the good stuff?
Right!?
Smart goals
There are multiple ways to improve productivity. A straightforward way is to set goals and tick them off once you’re done!
It’s easy to overcomplicate things these days, I feel.
This is why I stick to the most straightforward system. A pad of paper or a Google doc!
Simply write stuff down. It’s that easy!
And once you’re done, enjoy that dopamine hit by putting a line through it.
Setting goals helps make us more productive by giving us a direction to go in.
Important tasks
Now, it’s essential to have goals that you want to achieve. Make these goals your most important tasks so you don’t get distracted.
Many people set goals that they think they can accomplish easily or quickly, and this is a massive mistake.
There’s no bigger waste of time than doing efficiently that which never needed to be done in the first place!
What you can do is set goals to improve your life and achieve your personal goals. You should decide on your goals before you start doing them, first off.
Writing down your goals will make them easier for you to remember. When you have your goals, you can start working toward them.
You can use the following steps to write down your goals.
First, sit down and take a moment to think about what you want out of your life.
Write it down, making sure to include all the details. What you want to achieve is very important, but also consider how you will go about it getting it. What do you need to do?
Next, decide to do it!
This is a biggie. People often fail in their productivity simply because their decision wasn’t strong enough – or their goal wasn’t right for them.
So execute your goal by taking specific action towards it. This need not be some massive step by the way.
Tiny steps is the way forward. Incremental steps in the right direction every day, and you’ll get there.
Moving forward
One thing I want to mention is that of system process automation. A lot of entrepreneurs use automated systems to improve their workflow and productivity.
I personally don’t use any automation in my business. Now of course, I’m a one-woman band here, and my workload is not huge.
But I would go wary on automation if you’re not confident what you’re doing. Ensure you get proper advice from the company you’d be paying to help with automation, so it’s set up correctly.
My experience is sometimes tech stuff can waste more time than it can create! (Oops!)
