( a poem for the day you snapped )
It grows – believe it or not The love you feel, the feelings you have All of it grows As do they Your children But love Gets stronger, stronger, so strong it almost suffocates The intensity, it’s a lot! These children of ours, true gifts of God in every way Are so precious, so untamed and true to their souls I cannot sometimes grasp the sheer volume of this experience In being their mother It’s just a lot! Yes, that’s what it is A lot

Why I wrote this
I’m often so hard on myself. Guilt gets its way, and I’d had a bad temper the day I wrote this one. I need reminding, like we all do, that we’re human, and if anything, we need to give ourselves more grace, not less.
A gentle practice
Think back over your day to something you perhaps didn’t do so well. Maybe it was a snappy moment with your kids, like me. Remind yourself it’s OK, this too shall pass, and forgive yourself. You deserve it.
