Before we start, know this; I am a classic, stereotypical ‘existentialist’ if ever there was one. In fact, I tend to live life through the lens of, “If I were to die tomorrow, would I be happy with how I’ve lived/behaved/treated others today?”
Seriously, this is me. And this, I find, is reflected in a lot of the poems I write.
I mean, there’s something oddly grounding about staring down the big questions, the hard questions, truly, especially when we do it through words and poetry. Regardless if we’re sipping coffee at the break of day or watching the setting sun melt into a yellow haze behind green fields, there’s a quiet, yet unmistakable knowing that life is fleeting.
Life is messy even. Meaningful also. It’s always worth noticing, don’t you think?
Poems About Living Life
This post isn’t just about reading poetry. It’s about feeling it. About standing at the crossroads and asking, “What do I choose today?”
Welcome to my newest personal collection of poems about living life! A mix of observations, contradictions, and existential reflections that explore human nature, the philosophy of life, and what it means to really live a full-on life.
Life as Contrast: Where Beauty Meets Brutality
Let’s face it, ‘living’ isn’t all ‘day-blind stars’ and peaceful glades (as some poets would say – not me – haha). It’s equally, the frequent worn-out moments, past mistakes, oh, and mournful numbers as we creep up and up into the age of, well, whatever age we’re at.
But isn’t that the point?
The best poems live at a tension point where lovey-dovey dreams meet the weary, impatient minds of our lives.
Think of Emily Dickinson scribbling hope on scraps. Or Robert Frost standing in that yellow wood, making a claim on a path less traveled. Or Mary Oliver, whispering to wild geese and reminding us that this world, this precious life, is ours to belong to.
Poems That Ask You to Look Again
Some of my poems about living life aren’t trying to offer an easy way out, mind you. That’s the old ‘enneagram 7’ version of me – the one who would literally put a positive spin on everything. It used to annoy people to the max, I know!
No, no, my poems are invitations to look closer.
To see the little bird outside your window not as background noise per se, but as a symbol of freedom, fragility, and flight. The real vs the illusion.
In many ways, I write like a solo traveler on the journey of life. Always observing. Always collecting ~ each poem a tiny house of emotions, some filled with laughter, others with hard-to-swallow thoughts.
This poem I share below speaks to the moments where the inner life feels louder than the outer world, especially to me in my role as a mother. Where even in a room full of voices, I’m listening inwards. A whisper of Rumi’s poems. A flicker of John Keats. A reflection of the souls of men.

The Real Life Beneath the Surface
These aren’t just beautiful poems in this post, and look, maybe to you, they’re not beautiful at all (lol), but they’re snapshots of real life. The messy in-betweens. The turns of pitch between a senior school memory and a business affair gone sideways.
Between a happy life and a sad fate.
Between the carnival of careless joy and the quiet moments of personal despair. I write from the middle of the moment — the present moment — knowing it could all change the next day.
After all, isn’t that what makes life so achingly beautiful?

What’s the Point?
Maybe you’re here because you’re chasing inner peace, or, more likely, you’re simply bored and want to explore a new read. Or maybe you’re just tired of the noisy confusion inside?
Either way, poetry meets you where you are. No filter. No pressure. Just space to breathe.
These aren’t the famous poems you’ve been forced to memorize in high school, mind you. These poems are ones that grew from life experiences, from blink-of-an-eye revelations and quiet afternoons filled with a sweet scent of nostalgia.
They’re about personal growth, about being a child of the universe, about finding a good moment tucked between daily chaos.
Let Poetry Speak
Each image in this blog holds a piece of me, and maybe a piece of you, too? You’ll find poems about the lovely, the lonely, the confusing.
Poems that ask nothing more than for you to feel. To see your life reflected. And to know that even your past mistakes are part of your best score.
Because the best things? The ones worth fighting for? They don’t always shout. Sometimes, they whisper.

Before You Go…
If this post stirred something in you ~ a flicker of ‘seeing yourself in the mirror’, a pinch of nostalgia, a new friend in the form of a line, I invite you to explore more. I’ve written hundreds of poems that trace the edges of joy, longing, purpose, and peace, and continue to write with an eager intensity, as often as I can.
No matter your story, I want you to know that you belong in this beautiful world. And if you’re still figuring out what the best life looks like for you? Me too.
That’s exactly why I write. So go ahead ~ scroll, wander, and read more of my posts. Your next favorite poem might just be waiting one page away.
~ Until the next break of day, dear one.
