( a poem for the hard days, and the love underneath )
It’s OK if it’s hard Let’s get comfortable with it Whoever said it would be easy? It’s hard to let them go As they pull their hand away and stroll off Without a wave or a look back It’s hard when he rolls back Watching his thinning body inch away Unable to turn, unable to reflect It’s hard when they cry At the same time I only have hands for one It’s hard when the mirror shows The lines of pain and sadness The loss of time, so pointless, so fragile The days their clothes get cleared Are the days I shed tears For the growing of bodies means The passing of time As much as I would love to I cannot stop this Unable to quench the satiety That time has for my baby boys I am so in love with them But fearful too An anxious mother Who wants nothing more Than safety and goodness For their lives and ours I want nothing more, truthfully Nothing more
