( a poem for the slow, lazy days with a little one )
Oh the early days The lazy ways An endless summer Heat, all a haze The cuddles, the sways The looks and the nuzzles The kisses & cuddles Never cease to amaze What a treat, a delight What treasures alight A mother And her child The mother who listens The mother who waits The mother who chooses To slow down, give thanks For the gift of her child No greater gift on earth Than to to be amongst those Unmoulded yet heard Full of life, love & passion Full of smiles, laughter and vigour, Brimming with intelligence, creativity No agenda, no time limit No rushing, quick, quick Who wants to play Sit down To enjoy, be present, look around These are the early days The beautiful ways And long may they stay Indeed, I pray
