Bathing Baby With Milk – Our Not So Crazy Bathing Routine

bath oils

There was a time – thankfully a loooooong time ago now, where I didn’t think twice about what products I put on my skin.

Is it cheap?

Great.

Is it two in one?

Even better!

I’d head to the shops, innocently picking up the tackiest shower gel known to woman.

(The buy one get one free’s got me every time)

And then (goodness I’m embarrassed to admit it) I’d use it on my body and my hair.

I say this with genuine disdain, because my utter childlike ignorance of the toxic chemicals in those products was unknown to me.

I wondered why the ugly breakouts the whole time?

My hair, so greasy, dull and lank?

My skin, patchy with dry spots, yet shiny in others?

I blamed it on my raging hormones or lack of water, knowing no better.

Bathing Baby With Milk

This is a sponsored post. I only write posts about products I believe in, trust, and wish to share with my readers. Please read my disclaimer for more information.

Fast forward a decade later and I’m so glad I understand the importance of good skincare, particularly now I’m a mother with two very young children (a 1-year-old and 3 year old).

The older I get, the more I value a product which is natural, vegan, and organic.

Putting toxins on my or my baby’s skin is just plain weird (why would you do that?)

And I’m at the stage of life where wrinkles are creeping in (sigh), so I’m eager to do the work and prevent accelerated aging by using natural, kind products rather than something out of a science lab.

So, to the point:

In these blissful days of babies, bumps and breastfeeding (and wrinkles lol), I’m totally in love with the Mummy and Baby product range from Rinked Eco.

Rinked Eco Products

These products are designed to be used on both mum and baby from the same bottle.

Simplicity and sustainability in the same product.

Making them better for the planet, less clutter for the bathroom and better health wise for the whole family.

And you know what?

It’s not only Mummy and Baby products that they do.

There’s a whole natural, vegan, organic skincare range to check out at as well.

Now, if you’ve not yet experienced the true joy of bathing with your babies (is it only me?) now is your chance!

You’ve got no excuse, as these bath products are suitable for everyone – baby’s included.

For inspiration, this is one of our nurturing bathing routine with my little ones. I have many routines and mix it up, but this is undoubtedly one of my favourites.

Our Bathing Routine

  1. I run the bath – not too hot, mind as those little bottoms will join me. I then add a generous sprinkling of the Mummy & Baby Restoring Bath Soak.

This stuff smells divine and contains organic oats that soften my own and my little one’s skin.

This creates a divine milk bath – smoothing, nurturing and calming for baby and mama.

“You joining?”

There’s the option to put a handful in the cotton bag that comes with it, which can be good if you’d rather scrub your skin a little, or squeeze the oaty milkiness into the bath.

It’s your choice entirely.

  1. I soak, as do my little ones in the bath (the three of us) and let the milky bath water do it’s magic.

A good ten minutes if not more. Relaxing music is optional. Although, more often, Cocomelon is on in the background at my 3 year old’s request.

  1. Then I wash us with Mummy & Baby Organic Body Wash. It comes in a generous 250ml pot, and you only need a teeny weeny amount. In fact, this pot seems to be lasting me forever, which I love. I hate running out of body wash!

Containing organic baobab oil and calendula oil which nourish and soften the skin, it’s great for my newly showing wrinkles & frown lines, and also for cleaning dirty bottoms and underarms.

And the best thing?

It can be used as shampoo! Unlike those nasty toxic shower gels I mentioned before, hahaha (cringe).

  1. I then dry off, leaving the little ones to splash about for as long as their hearts desire. Which is usually a good half an hour longer than me.

And that’s especially why I love this bath soak, because it’s 100% natural with zero toxic chemicals. There’s nothing to harm their delicate baby soft skin.

  1. I finish with a generous spritz of the Mummy & Baby Body Oil, which is an incredible natural moisturiser, leaving my skin smooth and nourished, particularly after a long soak in the bath.

Top Tips

You can add the Mummy and Baby Oil to your bath water if you want to be super-efficient or short on time, and still reap the skin-softening benefits.

And that’s it!

There you have our very simple but super duper eco and body/baby-friendly bathing baby with milk routine.

Why Do I Bathe With My Babies?

We always bath together, every morning, me and my boys, because it saves water, keeps them occupied for longer than five seconds and I love the connection we have together.

I will say that I started bathing with them at the age they could sit up (around 6 months) otherwise it’s a bit risky (you know, water and babies).

Plus, it’s mega fun to have a bath together.

With these Rinked Eco products, I’m saving money (and space) in the bathroom using the same shampoo or bath soak.

And if you know a mum to be, check out the Mum to be skincare set.

If you fancy trying Rinked Eco products yourself, use the discount code “MAMAS10” at the checkout for 10% off.

I despise social media, love extra hot mochas and crave deep and meaningful conversations. I share lots on this blog for inspiration - wellbeing & health tips (I'm a wellbeing coach with a healthcare background) mindfulness, country life, holistic health, frugal living and family travel to name a few. I dislike talking about politics on social media. I dislike talking about politics on social media.
But I've been shocked to the core with the news over the past few months, and of course in the USA this weekend, over women's abortion rights.
(Whether you agree or disagree with abortion is another topic altogether).
What's shocking and heartbreaking is the backward step YET AGAIN for women's rights.
We keep seeing, again and again, a pushback to old times.
Times women before us fought hard against, which we'd long moved on from (or so I thought).
Think too about the rape victims in Bucha and other areas of Ukraine and the world.
Why is the world going backwards? That's what I want to know.

Women,
Of all the many things we need to deal with as wom Of all the many things we need to deal with as women – hair removal is up there.
I’ve got a love-hate relationship with the act of removing my body hair, I admit.
I wish I didn’t give a toss about what people thought of me.
That I could go round, willy nilly, splashing my leg and arm hair with zero cares.
What a dream!
But that’s not me.
Not that I’m obsessed with being hair-free – but it’s not what I want to be.
I love silky soft skin. There! I said it!
So I'm delighted to share in my latest blog post my thoughts on the zero-waste shave kit I got from @_weareffs
Check it out - link in my bio.

The varying experiences of women as mothers were t The varying experiences of women as mothers were the catalyst for creating Mamas Find Your Voice.
How can it be that something so innate, so biological, can have such different outcomes?
It baffled me. And I'm not talking about genetics.
I'm purely talking about women's experiences as a mother to their children.
Some women thrive.
In my case, motherhood has been the most radical, positive, transformative stage of my life so far - giving me fuel and passion I never knew existed before.
For others, it's not like that.
Why, though? Why do we each have such different experiences?
I do not have support - other than my husband. No family nearby to babysit or anything like that.
I do not have many friends, but the ones I do have, I treasure hugely.
I do not earn much money - my coaching business earned me a total of $4k in its first year.
I do not have the answers either.
I only have my experience and opinions, which I readily share, in case it helps.
Food for thought I guess.
What makes our experiences all so different?
I'd love to know your opinion?

I read this morning in a magazine that "modern life - stress and anxiety are becoming the norm."
Let's make a distinction with that.
YES, rates of stress and anxiety are through the roof
BUT
That does not make it NORMAL.
Please, let's NOT normalise that.
And if you're anywhere near the stage of burnout (I've had it - past tense), then please get support.
You could also check out the 'wellbeing' section of my blog for helpful tips in the meantime.
Don't bury your head in the sand and struggle with burnout.
It won't go away on its own (and I say speaking from experience)

I’ve been blogging for well over four years now I’ve been blogging for well over four years now (woot-woot!) And y’know what?
I ALWAYS felt uncomfortable talking about self-love.
*Cringe admitting this!*
Yet self-love is a topic that is super duper important to all of our individual well-being.
Ironic, huh?
Now, this could just be me, but I *thought* (notice – past tense) that self-love was actually another word for narcissism.
Seriously!
Glad to say I no longer think like this!
