How to Build An Abundance Mindset
Our mindset is a way to describe how we see things in life. It’s our attitude, and the perspective we take on events and situations we find ourselves in.
Your mindset heavily affects how you live, and how much you suffer if things go wrong.
Equally, your mindset controls how much you enjoy your time and whether you live life to the fullest.
And the great thing is, you can change your mindset if you want to. That is, if you deem your current mindset is holding you back.
Someone with an abundance mindset sees things from the glass half full approach in every situation.
This is a mindset based on being thankful and grateful for life, and believing that amazing things will happen in the future.
An abundance mindset focuses on the good in every situation, regardless of how bad it may seem on the outside.
Someone who consistently practices an abundance mindset can switch around negativity faster than anything! They always see a bright light in the darkest corner.
Mindset Vampires
In contrast, other people are “Mindset Vampires”, which is a mindset based on scarcity and fear.
They infect you with their negative view of life and create a bad vibe in your mind, making it harder for you to be positive and have hope.
They make you think there’s no way out. It’s hard to be optimistic and believe that you can achieve anything with a mindset vampire around.
It’s sad that so many people have been raised in a culture that doesn’t allow them to think for themselves, or to understand that their mindset can change.
To realise that they have a choice to see life in the way they do.
Instead, most people have been taught to accept things the way they are given to them by others without question.
You may be asking:
“So what? How does this affect my daily life and how I achieve success?”
Because these limiting views on life are what’s holding you back, and it’s my solemn aim to share with you how you can develop an abundance mindset to achieve the things in life that you desire.
It’s important to note that your mindset has developed over many years, and you must understand that a change in mindset cannot happen overnight. So be patient with yourself.
Much of your automatic way of thinking and being are tied to your mindset, and this will take time to change. It’s all good! Keep reading.
What Mindset?
For this post to make any sense, you’d need to be someone who leans towards a scarcity mindset in most situations.
We’re aiming to boost the abundance mindset and limit the scarcity mindset here.
Now just to clarify, there’s nothing wrong with a scarcity mindset, as this has developed as a way to protect yourself from pain.
But a scarcity mindset will always hold you back from any form of achievement or self development, whereas the abundance mindset will see you shake off setbacks and problems quicker than anything.
The Importance of Your Mindset
The first step to changing your mindset is to understand the nature of your current mindset.
What I mean is, you must understand why you see things the way you do?
It’s not always easy to understand why you do things in a certain way, but it will become clearer when you understand the “why” of your thinking.
In this case, you need to understand why you have a scarcity mindset.
Remember, a person with a scarcity mindset sees life as an endless struggle against failure. A true Scarcity Mindset is a mindset based on fear and lack.
Someone with this type of mindset is almost always looking over their shoulder, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
They’re paranoid about making mistakes and are always on the verge of panic. Scarcity Mindsets are based on a lack of understanding of life and, as I mentioned above, develop out of a desire to avoid pain and upset.
So first off, understand why you have this mindset? What caused it? Who influenced you in life to develop this way of seeing things?
You may like to spend some time journaling on this to understand your mindset better.
Be Thankful
The primary way to shift from a scarcity mindset to an abundance mindset is to be thankful.
Gratitude is the number one practice to see things from a better perspective and to bring in happier feelings.
If you want to create an abundant life, you must be abundantly thankful for all the good things in your life RIGHT NOW!
Start each day by listing five things you are grateful for. It doesn’t matter if they are small or large. But it’s important to do this in the morning!
This will quickly change your perspective for the rest of the day, and help you ‘flip the switch’ on any negative feelings that come your way.
Being thankful and grateful for all the good in your life will have a dramatic effect on your mood and energy levels.
When you’re consistently in a negative state of mind, it’s hard to become positive and optimistic.
In contrast, when you’re usually more positive and optimistic, it’s easier to remain that way. Whatever we repeat is what sticks.
It’s a natural law of the universe. So be thankful, and your thankfulness will be infectious.
It will spread throughout your being, and your positivity and optimism will radiate out into the world around you.
You’ll find yourself in situations where others do not see the bright light you do, and this will help you win every battle in life.
Visualise Your Version of Success
What you’re about to learn is one of the most effective ways I know to change your mindset.
It works because your mind responds to what you pay attention to.
So if you want to create an abundance mindset, you have to start paying attention to positive things! This will help change your automatic way of thinking.
Try visualising yourself as already being successful at whatever you wish to achieve.
Imagine how good it will feel when you achieve your goal! This post is great to read if you’re looking for some goal inspiration.
See the look of wonder on the face of the person you’re giving the good news to. You’ll be able to say “I told you so” to all those who said it was never going to happen.
This simple exercise will make a huge difference to the quality of your life.
It will give you an enormous sense of peace and calm. It will stop you dwelling on problems, and take the worry out of whatever is keeping down in the dumps.
In a nutshell, visualise your success… every day! This will be a major shift in your mindset straight away.
Choose Abundance
Every time you notice the scarcity mindset creeping back in (because it will) you must choose to see what you’re dealing with from an abundant approach.
This is critical in the early days of switching to an abundance mindset.
You must choose to see everything you’re dealing with from an abundant viewpoint.
It won’t feel natural, and it won’t be easy, but stick with it!
You may ask “How?” when dealing with something deeply distressing, such as a bereavement or illness, for example?
Always ask yourself, “What perspective can I see this from?”
-What can you learn from this experience?
-Can you develop self compassion and self trust due to the experience?
-Or change a bad habit or negative thought in light of what you’re dealing with?
This is important, because our minds are programmed to think that bad things happen to good people. It’s not true. You’re always in control of your life, and you can take steps to change your life to make it better.
Take a step back and look at the bigger picture.
You’ve been thinking about something for a long time, haven’t you?
Maybe it’s something negative. Now, stop for a moment and take a step back, and ask yourself “What is a different perspective that can help me get out of this situation?”
Think about your circumstances from an abundant point of view in every situation, and you’ll soon be seeing the whole of your life from that lens, which is really a wonderful perspective to see from!
What Is It You Love To Do?
Basically, doing more of what you LOVE is a surefire way to build an abundance mindset!
I know it’s tough to do sometimes, though. Often, you have to force yourself to do things you love because you feel your time should be spent doing something else?
This is a form of self sabotage, so if this sounds familiar, remind yourself that to bring on that abundance mindset, you need to do more of what you love!
Set some time in your calendar to actually do the things you love. Whatever hobby or enjoyable activity, do it!
What happens when you find your joy is that your entire being (physically and energetically) begins to realign itself around that activity, and this naturally shifts you into an abundant mindset in the other areas of life. Win win!
Stop Thinking As a Victim
This is the over-arching theme of an abundance mindset. You’re not a victim anymore!
You’re taking back control and doing something amazing for yourself by shifting into an abundant way of thinking.
Look at everything you’re experiencing another way, if you can. Always ask yourself, “How can I see this from an abundant viewpoint?”
Think about it. How many times has someone in your life done a nice thing for you?
Have you ever asked for anything in your life and got it?
If so, have you thanked the person who did it for you?
Have you ever thought of the people who have helped you in your life?
What are their names?
These are a few simple questions to shift you into an abundance mindset and kick out the victim for good!
Summary
An abundance mindset will always take you further, while the scarcity mindset will hold you back.
Start seeing everything from an abundant point of view, and watch more abundance rolling in.

– Be thankful for everything. If it’s something negative, ask yourself, what have you learned from that?
